Catenary masts with cantilever arms and insulators along an electrified double track

Railway & infrastructure

Castings and forgings for the overhead contact line, and torque tools for the bolted joints in track, rolling stock and steel structures.

Industry needs

The railway buys components that sit outdoors in all weathers and are replaced rarely, and that have to arrive in step with the maintenance plan rather than in large batches. Trafikverket has bought overhead contact line material in castings and forgings from Pegol for more than 25 years, without defects and just in time. The bolted joints in track and rolling stock are safety-critical: the couplings between wagons and locomotives take up large tensile and compressive forces, and rails have to be bolted to the sleepers at the right torque, often in confined positions. In steel structures such as bridges and halls the joints have to be pre-tensioned in a controlled way and be documented.

This is the industry where Pegol’s longest customer relationship sits. The overhead contact line material for Trafikverket has run without defects for more than 25 years, and that is the kind of delivery the industry asks for: the right part, on time, year after year. This page grows with more applications during the autumn. If you have a track, rolling stock or infrastructure project now, tell us which parts and joints it concerns and we will take it from there.

Applications

Overhead contact line material in castings and forgings

Parts for the overhead contact line that Pegol has supplied to Trafikverket for more than 25 years. Castings and forgings from Odlewnie Polskie, coordinated from the warehouse in Nässjö close to Trafikverket's projects. ADI is also used in railway components where weight has to come down without giving up toughness.

Bolted joints in track, couplings and buffers

ITH's nut runners tighten and loosen track bolts quickly and at the right torque, even in confined positions and on different track gauges. The couplings between wagons and locomotives and the vehicles' buffers are safety-critical joints that are tightened precisely, with documented tightening.

Joints in bridges and steel structures

The nodal points in steel frames for bridges and halls decide the rigidity and load-bearing capacity of the structure. With ITH's tools they are pre-tensioned in a controlled way and documented to the current standard, for example the HV standard for pre-tensioned joints.

Frequently asked questions

What has Pegol supplied to the railway?

Overhead contact line material in castings and forgings to Trafikverket, for more than 25 years and just in time from the warehouse in Nässjö. Beyond that, ITH's tools for the bolted joints in track, rolling stock and steel structures.

Can track bolts be tightened with ITH's tools in confined positions?

Yes. ITH's nut runners are built to tighten and loosen all common track bolts quickly and precisely, even in confined spaces and on different track gauges.

Can the joints in a steel bridge be documented?

Yes. ITH's tools give controlled pre-tensioning and documented bolted joints to the current standards, for example the HV standard for pre-tensioned joints in steel structures.
