Castings and forgings of high quality
Ductile iron, steel castings, ADI and drop forgings from Odlewnie Polskie, customised from planning to finished component.
Castings and forgings are about getting the component into the right shape with the right properties, in the series actually needed. Pegol supplies ductile iron, steel castings, ADI and drop forgings from Odlewnie Polskie, a foundry covering everything from prototype to mass production, with design, engineering and tooling in house. The foundry is the only producer of ADI cast iron in Poland and one of few in Europe. We come in early, while the geometry and the choice of material still hang together and can be influenced.
Material and geometry hang together in castings in a way they rarely do in other production methods. Switching from steel castings to ADI can mean the design should be redrawn, and that is where the gain sits.
Send the drawing, or describe the part and what it has to withstand, and we will look at material, tooling and series size together with Odlewnie Polskie.
Product range
Ductile iron
The basis of the range. Ductile iron is supplied in piece weights from 0.2 to 250 kg for demanding applications. Design, engineering and tooling sitting in house at the foundry means the part can be shaped around its function rather than the other way round.
- Piece weights 0.2 to 250 kg
- Design, engineering and tooling in house
- EPD-certified foundry
Steel castings
Steel castings in both unmachined and finish-machined condition. Pegol's steel castings are found in the automotive and defence industries among others, where documentation requirements are high.
- Unmachined or finish-machined
- Automotive and defence industry
ADI
Austempered Ductile Iron is heat-treated ductile iron. The TRIP effect, transformation induced plasticity, lets the material exceed steel castings in strength parameters while the toughness remains. Component weight can be reduced by up to 20 per cent, and several parts can often be replaced by a single casting.
- Heat-treated ductile iron
- Up to 20 per cent lower component weight
- Castings up to 600 kg
Drop forgings
Forging from forged bar to fully finished part, in piece weights from 0.1 kg upwards. It also suits relatively small series where the part is to be delivered finish-machined.
- From 0.1 kg upwards
- Forged bar to finished part
- Also relatively small series

| Drop forging, piece weight | From 0.1 kg upwards, from forged bar to finish-machined part. |
| ADI, base material | Heat-treated ductile iron. |
| ADI, property | The TRIP effect (transformation induced plasticity) lets the material exceed steel castings in strength parameters. |
| ADI, weight reduction | Up to 20 per cent lower component weight. |
| ADI, casting weight at the producer | Castings up to 600 kg. |
| ADI, production process | A considerably faster process than forging, with lower energy consumption and therefore a lower carbon footprint. |
| ADI, typical components | Structural elements in military vehicles, gearbox parts and drive wheels. Also used in railway, agriculture, mining and automotive. |
| Certification, foundry | ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, for castings in ductile iron, grey iron and cast steel including machining. |
| ADI production in Europe | Odlewnie Polskie is the only producer of ADI cast iron in Poland and one of few in Europe. |
Two different figures meet in the table and they answer different questions. 0.2 to 250 kg is the range Pegol supplies ductile iron in, while 600 kg is the foundry's capacity for ADI castings. Which weight, geometry and material quality is reasonable in your case is something we work through together before the tooling is designed.

Aftermarket for this product
A casting tool is an investment that lives on after the first series. Design, engineering and tooling sit at the foundry, which means a change to the part is handled in the same place as its production. The foundry is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 for castings in ductile iron, grey iron and cast steel including machining, so both material and machining can be followed up against the same documentation.

What is ADI?
Austempered Ductile Iron, that is, heat-treated ductile iron. The TRIP effect lets the material exceed steel castings in strength parameters without losing toughness.
When is ADI worth choosing over steel castings or forging?
When weight matters and when the design can be simplified. Component weight can be reduced by up to 20 per cent, and several parts can often be replaced by a single casting, which removes welding. The casting process is also considerably faster than forging.
What piece weights do you supply?
Ductile iron in 0.2 to 250 kg and drop forgings from 0.1 kg upwards. The foundry's capacity for ADI castings runs up to 600 kg.
What is the foundry certified to?
ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, in an integrated management system for quality and environment. The certification covers castings in ductile iron, grey iron and cast steel including machining. The foundry is also EPD-certified.
Where is ADI used in practice?
In structural elements for military vehicles, in gearbox parts and drive wheels. The material is also used in railway, agriculture, mining and automotive.
