Technicians servicing a wind turbine

Aftermarket

Most of the work comes after delivery: inspection, service, training and spare parts.

The core of this page is simple: both thyssenkrupp Rothe Erde and ITH have programmes for inspection, service and training on site, and we arrange them.

If you have equipment approaching its age, inspection is almost always the right first step. Tell us what is installed and how long it has been running, and we will take it from there.

Overview

What the aftermarket is, and why it is part of the business.

A component in heavy industry outlives the project that installed it. The slewing ring in a crane, the bolted joint in a wind turbine or the casting in a mining machine has to work for decades, and across that time it has to be inspected, serviced, sometimes replaced and always documented.

Both thyssenkrupp Rothe Erde and ITH run programmes for that work, and Pegol arranges them. It applies as much to equipment already installed as to new deliveries, which is the whole point: the aftermarket is not an addition to the business but the greater part of the product's life.

Inspection and condition monitoring

Assessment of function and durability on equipment already in operation.

Via thyssenkrupp Rothe Erde we offer expert service and inspection of slewing rings, where experience and high expertise form the basis for assessing function and durability. It applies to rings already in operation, which makes inspection the natural first step when an installation is getting old and you want to know what actually needs doing.

  • Inspection of existing slewing rings
  • Assessment of function and durability
  • On-site support

Service and refurbishment

Documented maintenance and access to spare parts.

The services cover documented maintenance and access to spare parts. That the maintenance is documented is not a formality: it is what lets the next assessment start from what was actually done rather than from an estimate.

For the energy sector this is often the main question. The need covers not only new build but refurbishment and service of what already stands, where components have to be replaced in structures drawn long ago.

Training

ITH runs training and certification programmes that give users the knowledge and competence required to operate and maintain the torque tools correctly. A tool handled wrongly does not deliver the torque it is set to, and then neither the precision nor the documentation helps.

  • Training and certification via ITH
  • Safe and correct use of the equipment
  • In-depth product knowledge

Rental instead of purchase

For temporary projects and one-off applications, torque tools and accessories can be rented through ITH. It is an option when the equipment is needed for a particular job rather than for running operations.

Spare parts and documentation over time

Follow-up and traceability long after the joint is assembled.

Access to spare parts is part of the service commitment for slewing rings. For bolted joints the follow-up can go further: with ITH's Smart Tools, pressure, preload and torque are recorded and evaluated in real time via the ITH Cloud, so a joint can be reviewed long after it was assembled.

The same thinking applies on the material side. Documentation and traceability follow the steel, and the tooling and design for castings remain at the foundry, which means a part can be taken up again instead of redesigned.

Frequently asked questions

Do you service equipment you did not supply?

Inspection and service of slewing rings is carried out via thyssenkrupp Rothe Erde and applies to rings in operation. Get in touch with details of what is installed and we will find out what can be done.

What does the service commitment for slewing rings cover?

Expert service and inspection, documented maintenance, access to spare parts and on-site support. The purpose is both that the ring works as it should and that the working environment is safe for whoever operates the machine.

Can the tightening of a bolted joint be documented?

Yes. With ITH's Smart Tools, pressure, preload and torque are recorded and evaluated in real time via the ITH Cloud, so the values remain available for follow-up at the next service.

Can we rent torque tools for a one-off job?

Yes. Through ITH, torque tools and accessories are available to rent, which suits temporary projects or specific applications where investing in your own equipment is not justified.
